PSG Academy Middleton delivered a standout performance at the AOC North-West Regional 7-a-Side Tournament. Competing against some of the strongest college football teams in the UK, the squad demonstrated outstanding teamwork, resilience, and technical quality throughout the event.

Drawn into Group C, PSG Academy Middleton embraced the challenge and produced one of their most impressive tournament runs to date—highlighting the growing strength of women’s grassroots football and the success of the PSG Academy football development programme.


Group Stage: Unbeaten and Full of Confidence

PSG Academy Middleton powered through their group-stage fixtures unbeaten, finishing with three wins and one draw. Their consistent performances positioned them at the top of Group C and set the tone for an exciting day of competitive North West college football.

Game 1 – PSG Academy Middleton 4–0 Tameside College

The team opened their campaign with a dominant 4–0 win over Tameside College. Clinical finishing and composed possession showcased the quality of this strong youth football squad, settling nerves and building momentum heading into the next match.

Game 2 – PSG Academy Middleton 1–1 Cardinal Newman College

The second game brought a tough challenge against the well-organised Cardinal Newman College. Needing only a draw to qualify for the quarter-finals, PSG Academy Middleton pushed for another strong performance. A composed and confident display saw them claim a 2–0 win over Bolton College, confirming their place at the top of Group C and continuing their momentum in this exciting girls’ football tournament.


Quarter-Finals – PSG Academy Middleton 0–1 East Lancashire College

A rematch against East Lancashire College awaited in the quarter-finals. In a tense, closely fought game, both teams created opportunities and displayed exceptional organisation. Unfortunately, a late free-kick broke the deadlock, ending PSG Academy Middleton’s impressive tournament run. Despite the narrow defeat, the team proved themselves against some of the strongest teams in North West women’s football.
