Last week we held a taster session for year eleven students from both Lord Grey Academy and the local area to trial what we offer in partnership with the school and in particular the Sixth Form.
Our partnership with Lord Grey Academy in Bletchley, Milton Keynes is just over a year old. In this time we have worked with over 400 players at the school within camps, player development sessions and our Sixth Form Extra Curricular offering!
The Lord Grey Sixth Form offers students a fantastic opportunity to study qualifications within great facilities. Only Lord Grey Sixth Form students can play the Parisian way in the whole of Buckinghamshire whilst representing Paris Saint-Germain Academy England.
Our coaching staff, led by Technical Director for the whole of the UK, Paulo Pereira welcomed students from all over Milton Keynes to the taster session. Players were put through their paces through a session led by the team, analysing elements of the game and understanding the opportunities available to them at Lord Grey Sixth Form.
Paulo Pereira said “It was a good turnout, and the numbers surpassed our expectations. We have several other dates coming soon, with our next Trial date being on Feb 13th, and we are looking forward to welcoming not only the Lord Grey students but also external students who might be interested in our programme and studying at Lord Grey.
One of our goal is also to increase the number of girls in our programme and be able to provide them playing opportunities alongside their studies”.
At the end of the session, we welcomed Head of Sixth Form, Jason Darvall to give a talk to the players and also to present our current Year 12 student Paige with the prestigious ‘Player of the Half -Term’ award. Paige was presented with the Official PSG Third Jersey for the 2023/2024 jersey.
Paige has given a bit of an insight into what she likes about Paris Saint-Germain Academy at Lord Grey:
“I’ve loved football ever since I was little and was inspired by the Lionesses success. The thing I enjoy most about the course is learning new skills and having a chance to play football with my friends.
The coaches feedback is very effective in helping me improve as a football player because it helps my confidence and helps me to improve my skills and knowledge of the game”.
