In the heart of South Wales, Paris Saint-Germain Academy Wales recently hosted a series of football taster sessions for local clubs and Primary Schools. These sessions introduced participants to the unique Paris-Saint Germain Academy training approach while fostering community engagement and collaboration. This article provides a glimpse into the success of our taster sessions and the exciting collaborations that have emerged.
Talbot Green FC Boys, Cwrt Rawlin Primary School, and Caerphilly Castle FC Girls each brought their unique energy to the pitch and embraced training the Parisian way!
The first of our taster sessions took place in Cwrt Rawlin Primary School, welcoming both Year 6 boys and girls to the pitch. It was heartening to witness the school’s passion for football, indicative of the sport’s increasing popularity in the area.
Many of the school’s pupils have previously attended our programmes, so it was wonderful to see some familiar faces. We’re hoping to see many of these returning and new faces at our upcoming camp. You can find more information on our Easter Camp here.
During the session, young players gained valuable insights into our Player Development Programme.
In addition, we recently hosted two taster sessions with Caerphilly Castle FC, open to girls new to football or seeking a new playing pathway. Approximately 40 players attended these sessions, representing a mix of newcomers to the sport and those looking to refine their skills through the PSG methodology.
Building on the success of the taster sessions, we are proud to announce a new partnership with the local club, Caerphilly Castle FC. This collaboration acts as a bridge between two organisations dedicated to nurturing and developing female football players. The partnership has enabled us to create a pathway for player development, ensuring that aspiring players have every opportunity to learn and flourish.
To gain deeper insights into the impact of this initiative, we spoke with Caerphilly Castle Head Coach, Bethan Bushen, a passionate and dedicated coach with a mission to empower young female players.
She shared, “Celebrating our partnership with PSG Academy has been an absolute joy! This collaboration has truly exceeded our wildest expectations, offering our players and local clubs incredible opportunities for growth and development.
During our combined session, we had the chance to blend our grassroots football approach with the expertise of PSG’s academy sessions. It demonstrated how a local grassroots club like Caerphilly Castle FC can seamlessly collaborate with a highly esteemed academy, showcasing a true community partnership. We are immensely grateful to PSG Academy Wales for choosing to work with our club. As the first partnership of its kind in Wales, it’s yet another remarkable achievement that we’re incredibly proud of.
Moving forward, we are committed to continuing to support each other, with PSG Academy Wales even planning to attend our annual summer tournament”.
The recent taster sessions have not only allowed us to engage with diverse groups within the local football community but have also highlighted the growing enthusiasm for the sport in Wales. We look forward to welcoming both returning and new participants to our upcoming Holiday Camp and Player Development Programme as we continue to provide valuable development opportunities for players of all abilities.
